Perhaps the greatest trauma Charleston has endured is the 1886 earthquake. Estimated to be a 7.6 Richter Scale event, 92 people died as a direct result, although it is asserted that many more died afterward from PTSD. Its easy to see why. When you read the below attachment, you learn that tremors both great and small continued for weeks.
